The village is named in honor of Anthony the Great.
From 1966, it was called St. Anthony until it was changed
to Saint-Antoine in 1969.
The village was originally called Higho Settlement.
Saint-Antoine was the birthplace of Louis Robichaud,
Canada’s first elected Acadian provincial premier.

Le village porte le nom d'Antoine le Grand.
À partir de 1966, il s'appelait St. Anthony jusqu'à ce qu'il soit
changé pour Saint-Antoine en 1969.
Le village s'appelait à l'origine Higho Settlement.
Saint-Antoine est le lieu de naissance de Louis Robichaud,
le premier premier ministre provincial acadien élu du Canada.
